Family Therapy

Strengthening family bonds and improving communication through compassionate, evidence-based therapy.

I help families - especially adult children and their parents - work through tough, often high-conflict situations particularly when substance use, broken trust, or long-standing family patterns are getting in the way. My style is warm, direct, and grounded in trauma-informed and attachment-based care. I guide families in having the hard conversations, setting boundaries that stick, and staying connected while also holding each other accountable. Together, we work toward healthier communication, more stability, and stronger relationships that allow everyone to move forward.

Family counseling matters because our families help shape not only who we are, but how we experience the world. The bonds we share with parents, siblings, partners, and other loved ones can lift us up—or weigh us down—affecting our confidence, coping skills, and emotional health. When we take the time to work through challenges together, we open the door to stronger connections, greater understanding, and a more peaceful home life.

People seek family counseling when:

  • • The communication has become imbued with so much conflict that people stop speaking to each other.
  • • A family member feels offended or hurt by another party.
  • • A family member or members are concerned about another member's substance use or other risky behavior.
  • • Family members don't like a new or existing partner or spouse.
  • • Families are going through trauma or loss or divorce.
  • • Families are dealing with complicated illness or mental illness of a family member.

I start the family therapy process by having a session with each party involved separately, before we all come together. That might mean one session with mom and one session with son, or one session with mom and dad, and one session with the kids. When I feel like I have a sense of what each party needs out of the family counseling, and when each party feels like I understand them and they want to work with me, I bring everyone together.
